This page covers only our side of it: what we can arrange around 22 January 2027, how early you need to ask, and when we will tell you to skip it. ## Why the lead time is long Our normal booking cut-off is one day. Around the festival that number is meaningless. Over a million devotees and spectators pass through the site across the festival period, hotels in central Kuala Lumpur book out, and the vehicle and the guide both have to be committed months rather than hours in advance. So the practical answer is: talk to us as soon as the date is on your itinerary rather than in the week before it. We answer 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM Malaysian time, every day, on 012-948 7050 or WhatsApp +60 12-364 8050. ![A family preparing a kavadi before the Thaipusam procession](/images/content/a-family-preparing-an-ornate-kavadi-frame-with-pea.webp) ## What changes on our side that day Everything about the logistics is different, and we would rather set that out than have it discovered at 6:00 AM in traffic. | Normal day | 22 January 2027 | | --- | --- | | Hotel pickup within 10 km of the Petronas Twin Towers | Same radius, but the drive is far longer than the distance suggests | | Driver waits 30 minutes | Same 30 minutes, in traffic that makes both sides late | | Fixed 08:30 or 12:30 start | Ask us before booking: the festival hours people want are not the published ones | | Vehicle drops close to the forecourt | Roads around Gombak are congested for the whole festival period; expect to walk in | The KTM Komuter is 30 to 40 minutes and RM 2.60 one way on an ordinary day, and during the festival it runs extra services that are still standing room only. Anyone with mobility limits should not plan on reaching the top. The 272 steps have no lift and no ramp on an ordinary morning; in a slow-moving crowd they are considerably harder, and there is no way to turn back quickly once you are on them. Families with small children face the same problem with the added difficulty of keeping hold of anyone in that density. If what you actually want is to see Batu Caves, this is the wrong day for it.
